Features of EMT Ball Indicator

There are three trigger modes to choose from

Bi-directional is Bi-dierctional; code B, can be omitted; 2. Bi-directional feather is Bi-directional Feather, code F; 3. Uni-directional is Uni-directional, code U

  • Three display (output) forms are optional:
  1. B_ flag, manual reset
  2. C_ flag is combined with switch output, manual reset
  3. D_ digital date and time display combined with switch output, automatic reset
  • Three installation types:
  1. Firstly, 2″ flange is Flange, code F;
  2. Secondly, 2″ welding base is Nipple; code N;
  3. At last, 2″ welding base is R2Adjustable, code R2AJ.

Performance parameters of EMT ball indicator

  1. Firstly, it is suitable for pipes above 2".
  2. Secondly, when flanged, the design pressure is from ANSI 150# to 2500#. The maximum design pressure when the nozzle is welded is up to 10000Psi (69MPa).
  3. The working temperature range is -20ºC~120ºC, the working temperature Use special seals when exceeding this range.

EMT Pig Signaller Makes Pig Inspection Simple and Effective

EMT's range of Intrusive Ball Indicators are instruments installed on pig transmitter and receiver stations to confirm the launch or arrival of a pig. They can also be installed anywhere on the pipeline and detect the passage of all types of pipeline pigs. Our intrusive ball indicator unit uses a unique magnetic system to prevent fluid exchange from being blocked. So it both eliminates the risk of dynamic seal leakage, increases instrument triggering flexibility, reduces maintenance costs, and is easy to install to on the pipeline. There is interaction between the flag and the trigger mechanism. So the flexibility of the trigger mechanism can be checked online.

Online Maintenance Option

  1. -AJ: Threaded connection of branch pipe, adjustable insertion depth. It can be installed and removed under pressure using special tools.
  2. -MFOI: Trigger mechanism flexibility can be checked online.
  3. -REDV or RE: Installation and removal under pressure can be achieved by installing on the flanged ball valve using the installation and removal tool under pressure .
  4. -REUV: Loading and unloading under pressure using special tools.
  5. -REIV: Use pressure loading and unloading tools (2 full threaded studs / synchronous special tools). Which includes a ball valve. And which can realize pressure loading and unloading.
  6. IV: Self-contained ball valve

China Passage Pig Signaller is the intrusive bidirectional triggering Pig detector. It also used to monitor pig passage. Which can be equipped with multiple displays such as B, C, D, CD display. When the pig passes, the bidirectional trigger into the pipeline triggers each display having the following action:

B: Indication flag turns to vertical from horizontal.

C: Indication flag turns to vertical from horizontal; SPDT or DPDT switch acts and remains active.

D: Digital time display starts counting and memories the actual time when triggered. SPDT or DPDT switch acts and remains till the factory set time, and then display returns to standby.

CD: Indication flag turns to vertical from horizontal. SPDT or DPDT switch acts when the trigger deflects a certain angle and resets after the trigger resets; the digital time display is the same as D.

China Passage Pig Signaller is connected with 2″ flange, were ending with REUV, indicates upper ball valve handled under pressure, i.e. ball valve to be mounted above the foundation; were ending with REDV, indicates lower ball valve handled under pressure, i.e. ball valve to be mounted below the foundation.

Installation

Before mounting the  Pig detector, the pipe shall be provided and fixed with the flange that conforms to the mounting mode of the said instrument, e.g. the specification, classification, and distribution of mounting holes of the flange shall be in conformity to the standard ANSI B 16.5 or the customized standard. So the space from the flange top face to the internal wall of the pipe shall be 150mm or in conformity to the customized measurement.

Place the sealing gasket compatible with the flange (3.2mm sealing gasket in case of RF flange) between the two flanges to allow the indicator's trigger action direction right against the pipeline. Insert the end with a trigger to the pipeline and fasten the flange seat on the pipeline interface with screws.

Adjustment of the display direction

When it requires adjusting the direction of B, C, CD display with indication flag. Please slightly loosen four nuts under the square flange of display and turn flag display clockwise to the proper position; after that tighten the loosened four nuts.

When it requires adjusting the direction of the D display, unscrew knurled nut under the display to adjust its direction and then tighten it again.

Reasons for This Product

After the long-term operation of oil and gas pipelines, solid pollutants such as paraffin and rust and some liquid and semi-solidified oil pollution may be deposited on the inner wall of the pipeline. This reduces the flow area of the pipe. This also affects pipeline capacity. Moreover, this solid dirt adheres to the inner wall of the pipeline for a long time and may accelerate the corrosion of the pipeline after complex chemical action. At present, the commonly used pigging devices mainly include rubber pigging balls, foam pigging devices, leather bowl pigging devices, etc. However, the tools used in pig reception all require professional technicians to operate. If you are a non-professional, it will take a lot of time to learn the instructions and precautions. Moreover, even if the technical essentials are mastered, the problem of signal interference will also occur during use, resulting in the failure of the pig's tracking. Therefore, please read the instruction manual of this product carefully before use.

Inspection and testing

  1. Firstly, the pig passing indicator shall be factory tested according to relevant specifications. And the overall performance test after assembly shall be carried out before leaving the factory to prove the single item provided. The equipment and the complete set of installations can fully meet the owner's requirements in all aspects.
  2. Secondly, the pig passing indicator shall be factory tested. Which according to the corresponding industrial standard or other management specifications.
  3. At last, the supplier shall provide the owner with the factory test report and quality inspection report of each pig passing indicator. Which shall be the official report with signature and date

 

But sometimes this product will have inaccurate information. Therefore, in addition to installing the ball indicator, the inspectors will also take other means to monitor. For example, they will use various methods to detect, such as listening on cathodic protection piles, sitting on the ground and feeling the vibration of pipelines. These methods can ensure the accuracy of detection. And usually they will set multiple detection points a few kilometers before and after the instrument.

In this way, it can ensure that the inspectors can clearly know the location of the pig. After the pig successfully reaches the pig receiver, the inspector can recover the sewage and take out the pig. They can also take samples, measure pig data, recover processes, etc. So, the pigging operation of a trunk line can be successfully completed. Through pigging operation, we can remove the accumulated liquid in the pipeline and improve the efficiency of pipeline transportation. All these can lay a good foundation for ensuring production in winter and gas supply in peak periods.
